Novena for Grace and Solidarity, March 12 - 20

posted Mar 13, 2017, 6:40 AM by Dan Pittman   [ updated Mar 13, 2017, 6:56 AM ]

Today, we see throughout parts of the Middle east, Africa and Asia the brutal persecution, torture and killing of Christians.

This month, the Knights of Columbus is urging its members and other people of faith to pray a Novena of Grace and Solidarity for Christians suffering persecution. The novena is based on a prayer in honour of St. Francis Xavier by Italian Father Marcello Mastrilli, a missionary to Japan who was martyred for the faith. Please join in praying this Novena of Grace and Solidarity, beginning on Sunday, March 12, and concluding on Monday, March 20. The novena may also be prayed any time throughout the year. See Knights of Columbus Charities for more information on how you can help relieve the suffering of persecuted Christians.

Come Pray for Peace - June 10 and 11

posted May 24, 2016, 7:16 PM by Dan Pittman   [ updated May 24, 2016, 7:37 PM ]

The Holy Land is where Judaism, Islam and Christianity began. Today, we hear, almost daily, of the conflict and strife in a land where too many have suffered, where too many have died. Resolution can be aided by prayer, so the members of EOHSJ Canada Atlantic, in this Jubilee Year of Mercy, dedicate their Annual Meeting and Gathering to praying for an end to the violence and peaceful times to come.

The Order welcomes you to join in these events:

Friday  June 10:   7 PM - 9 PM
Evening Prayer at St. Agnes Church, 6903 Mumford Road, Halifax led by Fr Paul Morris, KCHS, followed by a reception and presentation on the spirituality of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Trudy Comeau, DCHS, Lieutenant for Canada-Atlantic EOHSJ and Michel Comeau, KCHS, will present a glimpse into the beauty and sanctity of the Holy Land from their recent pilgrimage with members of Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Saturday  June 11 :  4 PM
Mass at St. Agnes Church, 6903 Mumford Road, Halifax, celebrated by Archbishop Anthony Mancini, KGOHS and including a ceremony of promotions for members of the Order. This mass will be offered for all who have died in the conflict of the Middle East.
